No One Can Take This From Me

I came out of an abusive situation a few years ago then ended up with me being assaulted and stalked. It derailed my life.

I was in therapy because of something someone else had done to me. I couldn't go certain places because of that person. I had to learn my triggers and how to avoid them. I had to function well enough to keep my job. I was tired of all of it and I wanted to do something that was just mine. Not related to my assault, but just for me.

I had done Judo as a child and tried that first but it was a bit too intimidating.

So I tried BJJ because I didn't need to be scared of being thrown. I contacted the coaches ahead of time to explain I might struggle and they keep an eye out on me during training.  It's my thing that I do for me despite what happened. It's mine and no one can take that from me. I might be a lot slower learning than others and sometimes I can't join in with everything because it triggers me or I panic and need to sit out for a bit but I'm there anyway. I'm there for me and for the love of martial arts. That's mine and no one can take that from me.
